Pantone announced their colour of the year this week, with not just one but two colours. After a unique year for all of us in 2020, the colours, Ultimate Gray and Illuminating yellow.

The belief being that the two shades will help people ‘fortify themselves with energy, clarity and hope, when we’re facing increasing uncertainty.

The yellow shade, PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating, is ‘bright and cheerful yellow sparkling with vivacity’ evoking a sunshine filled day. Whilst the grey, PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray is ‘emblematic of solid and dependable elements which are everlasting and provide a firm foundation’.

The Pantone Colour of the Year selection process uses thoughtful consideration and trend analysis. We’ve taken inspiration from these colours used these colours in the past, with one of our campaigns ‘Ultraviolet Summer’ being linked to the Pantone Ultra Violet Colour of the Year for 2018
